Worship Center Remodel

Step One: Remodel the choir room and create a new baptism space

Lancaster Baptist Church is excited to share a significant update on our auditorium remodel and the future of our baptistry. For many months, our leadership has been prayerfully evaluating how to improve both the functionality and the experience surrounding baptism—a vital ordinance in the life of our church. After careful consideration, we’re moving forward with plans to relocate the baptistry to a new, purposefully designed space in the courtyard behind the Worship Center.

This decision comes after exploring several options, including placing a new baptistry within the auditorium. Ultimately, that plan fell short of our goals due to space limitations and engineering challenges. The new courtyard baptistry will feature a significantly larger tank—upgrading from 650 to over 3,000 gallons—to better accommodate families and create a more comfortable, accessible space for those being baptized. Enhanced privacy features, heating elements, and improved viewing areas will make this a welcoming and meaningful setting for both participants and guests. During our services, baptisms will be live streamed directly into the auditorium, allowing our entire church family to rejoice together as individuals publicly declare their faith in Christ.

In addition to the baptistry, upgraded changing areas will be located in the remodeled choir room, with expanded facilities offering increased space and comfort. A new glass rolling door will connect the choir room directly to the courtyard, creating an indoor-outdoor flow that enhances visibility and warmth, while maintaining privacy and practicality. During colder months or inclement weather, an indoor portable baptistry option will ensure that baptisms can continue without interruption.

This next phase in our auditorium project represents both a return to scriptural simplicity—baptisms in the New Testament often took place outdoors—and a forward step in creating the best environment for celebrating this powerful moment of public faith. Thank you for praying with us as we move forward, striving always to steward our resources wisely and glorify God in all we do.

Worship Center Remodel

The next step of development on the campus of Lancaster Baptist Church is a significant remodel of our Current Worship Center, the central place of our Worship. Our Worship Center has been worn and used daily for more than a quarter century at this point. It too stands in desperate need of repair and renewal. Together as a church, we desire to be led by the Spirit into this significant endeavor to restore the place of our worship so that together we can draw hearts and attention in worship toward the Lord Jesus Christ.

Worship is the first step in our ministry path

A Worship Center Remodel is not just about lighting, sound equipment, screens, paint, and AC units. This project is about creating a space to clearly present the truth of God’s Word in the most engaging and compelling way we can.
