Solid Foundations Posts

We are now meeting in Modular J-1. Our new time is at 10:00. For many of us, this is "old school..." We are used to this schedule.

Personally, I enjoy it! I love having us all in class at the same time, starting together, finishing together, and then dismissing at 10:45! For our family, we enjoy the 8:30 service - we like the long afternoon! For those of you who like your mornings, come at 10:00, stay for the second service.

Whichever service fits your schedule better, don't miss a dynamic Bible lesson designed with you in mind.

See you this Sunday!

Many of us growing up may remember the great western hero, the Lone Ranger and his horse, Silver. Yet, if you remember the story, you will remember that the Ranger was dying and alone until Tonto came and nursed him back to health. Were there no Tonto, there would have been no Lone Ranger!

From that old rerun, a biblical principle emerges. Not a one of us can make it as a Lone Ranger in the Christian life. We are vitally dependent upon one another. In this new year, we are reminded of that as we endeavor to "strive together." Join us each Sunday at 10:00 as we learn how to put this principle into action.

It's hard to believe we are coming to the end of 2010! This has been another year where we have "graduated" some great friends from our class into the couples ministry of LBC! Yet, while we have seen some move on, we are grateful for the lives that have been changed and for the new people the Lord has brought our way. We have seen several singles complete discipleship in 2010. We have seen dozens saved and baptized this year. It's great to be in a place where God is working!

On December 31, at 7pm, Jenni and I look forward to bringing in the new year with our class. Join us at the Oasis for a time of fun, food, and fellowship - this is the Baptist Way! Bring your favorite board game, Wii games, snacks, etc. Let's celebrate God's goodness together.

We are just a few weeks from finishing our journey through every book of the Bible. It's hard to believe that we have surveyed right at 60 books. I am excited about our next series. But I am more excited to know that we have people in our class who have a heart for the Word of God!

The weekend of August 12-14, we were able to get away to Manhattan Beach for our annual singles' retreat. We heard powerful preaching from Brother Bryan Samms. God used him to remind us that while we have great plans for the future, we must also serve God "in the mean time."

I enjoy these retreats. It is a joy to watch our class come together and develop godly friendships and respond to biblical truth. If you were not able to go this year, go ahead and start planning now for next year! Don't miss it.

Saturday, April 10 marks the day we left our comfort zones! On this inaugural trip to Los Angeles, we made memories that will not soon be forgotten. We rode the MetroLink down to Union Station, then caught a subway to another part of the city, to catch a bus which took us to the Fashion District. Part of the fun was just the adventure of hoping we were on the right bus (which we weren't!). We always enjoy spending time with our class. Check the photo section to enjoy the memories!
